Police Hand Signals
In case of accidents or construction work, traffic police may stand at intersections and use hand signals. In such cases, you must follow the police officer's hand signals even if the traffic lights are active.
When the Police Officer Holds Arms Horizontally
If the police officer holds both arms horizontally:
・Vehicles moving toward the front of the officer's body are equivalent to a red light.
・Vehicles moving toward the sides of the officer's body are equivalent to a green light.
When the Police Officer Raises Arms Vertically
If the police officer raises their arms vertically (straight up):
・Vehicles moving toward the front of the officer's body are equivalent to a red light.
・Vehicles moving toward the sides of the officer's body are equivalent to a yellow light.
